Lucknow:under the ageis of Paediatric Orthopaedics Society of Uttar Pradesh (POSUP) & able Guidance & motivation by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor KGMU Department of Paediatric orthopaedics KGMU Lucknow collaborated with National Service Scheme units of Avadh Girls’ Degree College, Lucknow to organize a *health check-up and nutrition awareness camp* for the students of Prathmik Vidyalaya, Cabinet Ganj, Lucknow to celebrate *Children’s Day*.
The camp was inaugurated by Prof Ajai Singh, Head, Department of Paediatric Orthopaedics, KGMU alongwith Dr U Chaturvedi, Principal of Avadh Girls’ Degree College, Lucknow and Mrs Rizwan, Principal of Prathmik Vidyalaya, Cabinetganj, Lucknow in the presence of NSS Program Officers of AGDC and the medical team from KGMU, Prof Huda, Dr Faisal and Dr Rohit Shukla.
NSS volunteers motivated the children to adopt a healthy lifestyle through posters. Then, NSS volunteers of the college presented a Nukkad Natak to educate school children on the importance of healthy eating habits and physical exercise.
This was followed by a health investigation by the team of experts from the Department of Paediatric Orthopaedics, KGMU. They conducted a health check-up of around 60 children from the Primary School and the locality of Cabinetganj. The growth parameters of the children were assessed. The children were also observed for features like flat foot, knock knee and club foot. Prof Ajai Singh advised the children and NSS volunteers on daily exposure to sun for fulfilling Vitamin D needs of the body, healthy diet and physical exercise.
On the occasion, NSS volunteers also gifted the children stationery items, drawing and colouring books to explore their creativity. They also distributed fruits to the children exhorting them to follow healthy eating habits.The volunteers narrated stories to the children and had a fun filled day dancing and singing with the children. It was a great experience for the medical team from KGMU and NSS volunteers from Avadh Girls’ Degree College.
